Sadness - Worry - Anxiety-Depression
Sadness-Worry-Anxiety-Depression.
This is a common symptom we have all encountered, at some time or the other in our Life. COVID-19 brought these things to the forefront and many acknowledged that these things are real and they need to be addressed.
How can a Child of God, overcome these things, do the scriptures speak about them. Jesus spoke about it very plainly.
What is the way out ?.
Jesus is the greatest problem, solver:
He said " Come unto me all you that are heavy laden ….'. ( Matt 11:28) No matter what is the state of our problems is, we can always come to Jesus, just the way we are and we can be assured that He will never cast us out ( John 6:37 ). Remember all those who came to Jesus, no matter what sickness they had, they were healed and delivered by Him.( Matt 4:23 ).
Cast your cares upon Him - ( 1 pet 5:7 ) . If the burden of worry is weighing you down, then take your burdens to the Lord, He is well able to take care of your fears, worries, heaviness. Moreover know that Jesus is the High Priest ( Heb 4:15 ), who can sympathize with your weaknesses. He is willing to help you when you call upon Him.( Heb 2:18)
Take one Day at a time.
So said the greatest Teacher, who walked on this planet Earth. One of the reasons, why our pilgrim walk can become heavy and weary is because we get worried about the future. There is nothing wrong with thinking about our finance, our career, and our plans.
Jesus never forbade us to use our minds to think about this but He forbade us to worry ( leading to anxiety ). Our walk becomes easy and light when we involve Him in our future hence we can avoid Leaning on our own understanding.( Prov 3:5).
Give thanks for everything.
Paul reminded the church to Give thanks in everything ( 1 thes 5:18 ) Because He causes all things ( even our failures and falls) to work for our own good.
If we practice this simple exhortation, we will overcome all sadness, anxiety, etc.
We need to give thanks to the Lord from our hearts and keep on thanking him till we find that the heaviness is lifted up.
Make it a habit to pray. ( 1 Thes 5:17 ).
This helps us from dwelling on unwanted thoughts.
As humans we tend to wander in our thoughts that are mostly unprofitable, the good way out is to turn them into prayer.
Faith is a powerful weapon.
Having now become a child, one of the common sicknesses among the believer is worry?
Worry is not taken seriously as we think that other sins like murder, robbery, etc are more sinful.
Yet this very worry can choke our spiritual life. Jesus said they are like the thorns in the field. ( Matt 13:22). Because we think worry and anxiety is ok since we are human, God understands, then we will not make an attempt to overcome our worry and anxieties. This is a common dart of our enemy, Satan. Hence we need to lift up the shield of faith, Word of God is the only shield and sword that can quench every dart of the enemy.
